Alcohol Service Guidelines at Hidden Gem Events
What you need to know before planning your bar service

Hosting alcohol at your event is absolutely allowed and can be a great addition to your celebration. That said, there are specific Idaho state laws that must be followed when alcohol is served at a commercial venue like Hidden Gem Events.

These guidelines are here to help you plan confidently while protecting you, your guests, and your event.

Why licensed bartenders are required

  • In the state of Idaho, alcohol service at venues is regulated by Idaho State Police Alcohol Beverage Control. These laws are in place to ensure alcohol is served safely, responsibly, and legally.

  • At our venue, this means all alcohol service must be handled by a properly licensed and insured bartender or mobile bar company.

What this means for your event

  • You will need to hire a licensed and insured bar service

    • Your bartender must be operating as a legal business in Idaho, carry liability insurance, and be able to provide documentation upon request.

  • Your bar service must pull the proper permits

    • Licensed vendors are responsible for obtaining any required permits through the state and the City of Meridian for your event.

  • Alcohol must be handled through the licensed vendor

    • This is one of the most important pieces. In Idaho, guests or hosts cannot supply their own alcohol for a bartender to serve at a commercial venue. Alcohol must be purchased and managed in compliance with state regulations, typically through your licensed bar provider.

What is NOT allowed

To keep things simple and clear:

  • No “DIY” or self-serve bars

  • No hiring unlicensed or uninsured bartenders

  • No friends or family members serving alcohol

  • No “dry bar” setups where you provide the alcohol and a bartender simply pours it

Even if a company markets themselves this way, many are not operating within Idaho law.

Why this matters

  • We understand this can feel like an extra step, but it is incredibly important.

  • Non-compliant alcohol service can lead to:

    • Fines or shutdown of your event

    • Liability issues for you as the host

    • Risk to the venue and future events

  • Our goal is to protect your experience so your day runs smoothly without any unexpected issues.
